Title Case Workshop - An impromptu S&F Trip
When Jessica and Erik announced a day workshop on lettering, we jumped at the opportunity to rub shoulders with some of the most fresh and talented designers in the industry.

While I knew these type gurus were well mastered in type, I was astounded at the history and detail they shared with us. The class met at their brilliant studio nestled off 22nd and Folsom Street at 9 am and started off with a donut + coffee social.
We dove right into the material, getting a refresher’s course on the history of type and the proper use of display vs. print. This was followed by sketches and sketches of cap A’s and E’s, which were then critiqued.

Lunch was comprised of delicious sandwiches, courtesy of Rhea’s Deli and further instructions on how to properly convert our sketches into vectors, along with peeks into Jessica and Erik’s concept books and distinct processes of design. It’s so refreshing to see how different each person’s method of creativity is from beginning to final stages.

Final product—must say I was quite proud of my penmanship although I’m ways away from mastering the tool!
