Rodarte for Don 2012: Don Giovanni
“The set pieces or “installations” consist of rolling, jagged and crinkled cascades of white paper, like icebergs floating along the floor, matching the hall’s interior, itself shaped in places like an 18th-century wooden galleon. Rodarte founders Laura and Kate Mulleavy teamed up with the amazing architect Frank Gehry for this production. Gehry’s work complimented Rodartes work perfectly. I didn’t get to attend the show but I am sure the dramatic detailed costumes fit well for the whole Don Giovanni’s production. Swarovski supplied 130,000 sequin’s for the costumes. This is one of the best work I have seen out of Rodarte. It’s so great to see the Rodarte sisters stepping out of their regular fashion mediums and trying new things. Keep it coming!
